JOY Project

Highlights

Amarc holds a 40% interest in the high potential, JOY Cu-Au district (JOY District) in north-central BC, within the underexplored Toodoggone region. A geological region with known potential for porphyry and epithermal deposits, the Toodoggone is part of BC’s Golden Horseshoe, which includes the Golden Triangle to the W and NW.

The JOY District hosts the high grade AuRORA Cu-Au-Ag Deposit discovery, PINE Cu-Au Deposit, the Twins Discovery, the Canyon Discovery and a pipeline of other compelling Cu-Au exploration targets. The discoveries at the AuRORA deposit and Twins were made in 2024.

JOY District

  • Covers the northern extension of the prolific Kemess porphyry Cu-Au camp (Kemess Camp)
  • The south-central part of the Kemess Camp, currently held by Centerra Gold Inc. (Centerra), includes:
    • the former Kemess South mine (BC’s third largest Au producer), which produced 3 M oz Au and 750 M lbs of Cu over 13 years to 2011[1]
    • the permitted, development-stage Kemess Underground deposit
    • the advanced-stage Kemess East deposit
  • Through their association with HDI, Amarc’s technical team:
    • was first to recognize the Kemess District’s true porphyry potential
    • acquired both Kemess North (now known as Kemess UG) and Kemess South as early-stage prospects
    • advanced both Kemess North and Kemess South to significant porphyry Cu-Au deposits
    • sold Kemess South on beneficial terms to a predecessor of Northgate Minerals, who brought the deposit into production

JOY is accessed via resource roads servicing the southern end of the Toodoggone region, including Centerra’s Kemess deposits and the historic Lawyers, Baker and Shasta mines.

Project Highlights

  • Amarc’s consolidated mineral tenure at JOY hosts a high quality pipeline of deposits and deposit targets, including:
    • the new AuRORA Cu-Au-Ag Deposit discovery
    • the PINE Cu-Au Deposit
    • the new Twins Cu-Au Discovery
    • the Canyon Cu-Au Discovery
    • the new Northwest Gossan target
    • the MEX Cu-Au deposit targets
    • multiple other porphyry Cu-Au exploration targets
    • Au-Ag epithermal deposit potential remains to be fully explored
  • No or limited underlying royalties
  • Leveraged millions of dollars of historical exploration data
  • Exploration since 2021 has been funded by Freeport McMoRan through an earn-in agreement, and Freeport has earned a 60% interest; Amarc is project manager
  • Since that time 87 holes (some 36,670 m) have been drilled of which 40 drill holes (16,883 m) were drilled at eight targets in 2024.
  • An approved $10 million program with significant drilling is underway (July 16, 2025 release)
